2009

February 23rd, 2009 by mikechoi

2009…  My last “blog” here was 2008.  I came here to clean up my Friendster page since I’ve been getting so much spam friend requests and messages from scantly clad women wanting to be “friends.”  So I just turned off all my notifications.  Again, it’s been a Facebook year, so I come here once a year…  Haha.

2008’s New Year Resolution was actually a success.  I accomplished what I set out to do.

2009’s plans?  Let’s see.  I made some this year too.  It’s gonna be a tough year, economically, so let’s just survive this…

What a roller-coaster 2008 was…  So much joy and happiness, yet so much stress and hurt…  This year is going to be pivotal in my life.  How I handle myself determines if I’ll be the happiest man alive on this planet, or the most miserable.

I never compromise when it comes to my life.  I know what I have to do.  I know what I have to choose.  Let’s not be weak, stand strong, and plow through.

I leave you with this; this is so appropriate:

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

2008

2008 is here.  Where is 07 go?  I actually made some new year’s resolutions; something that I haven’t done in years, perhaps decades…

One thing I realized is that it’s been many years since I’ve met anyone really really cool.  You know, the kind of people you meet in college or when you were younger, who just blows you away and you have a really nice conversation or just a really deep connection?  I think I’ve been really thirsty for that.  With age comes a lot of noise and things that suck your time needlessly and thoughtlessly.  Maybe I’m at some sort of end of a Phase, maybe this is midlife crisis, whatever you call it– I want to be feel like that again.  Make music, make art, talk about shit, connect.

Oh, and look me up on Facebook.  I spend more time there than here; it’s a lot more fun, trust me.

records

i don’t like being home.  it’s too big and cold.  but i found a little pleasure just now.

i put a few records on my record player and played some music i haven’t heard in a while.  do kids nowadays even know what a vinyl record is?  anyway, i’m rockin’ out to death cab for cutie, mary lou lord, yo la tengo, chopin piano concerto no.2, and now, jimi hendrix…  oh yeah, i can blast music at 2:30am and no one says anything, cos the next warm body is probably a good 5 walls and 100 feet away…  i guess this place has some merits.

but please, get me out of here and back into the crowded, noisy, dirty city soon…

The Keys to Your Heart
You are attracted to those who are unbridled, untrammeled, and free.

In love, you feel the most alive when things are straight-forward, and you’re told that you’re loved.

You’d like to your lover to think you are stylish and alluring.

You would be forced to break up with someone who was emotional, moody, and difficult to please.

Your ideal relationship is open. Both of you can talk about everything… no secrets.

Your risk of cheating is zero. You care about society and morality. You would never break a commitment.

You think of marriage as something precious. You’ll treasure marriage and treat it as sacred.

In this moment, you think of love as commitment. Love only works when both people are totally devoted.
